Pre-Engineered Treatment Plants
These pre-engineered treatment plants provide biological treatment of sewage wastewater using activated sludge, extended aeration technology, as well as patented maintenance-free Fluoroprobe® technology for matching air requirements to both hydraulic and biological loading, or for creating aerobic or anaerobic zones within the single aeration chamber for purposes of nitrification and de-nitrification.
The basic design includes an extended aeration period that is approximately 24 hours, coupled with a defined settling period of approximately four hours.
The extended aeration process purifies the sewage through the destruction of organic compounds, using air to mix and oxidize the volatile material into gas, water and sludge. The continued aeration of these concentrated solids causes biological organisms to be produced and to grow in colonies. These colonies attach themselves to volatile materials, breaking them down into water, carbon dioxide, and ash. The result is a clear and odour-free effluent.
The activated sludge process causes 99% of the active bacteria that has settled in the clarifier to be returned to the start of the extended aeration. This aids, enhances, and increases the efficiency of the micro-organisms that break down and digest the sewage wastewater.
